On the Street Where I Live

On the Street Where I Live, Painting
On the Street Where I Live
I painted this from a photo I’d taken right outside my front door! As I was thinking of this majestic, awe-inspiring view in my absolutely normal, simple neighborhood, I thought, how wonderful it is that anyone can experience this glory no matter where they are if they only look out and look up! The poorest person can own the richest purple and keep it always in their soul. The title came to me as a song. I'm a fan of classic musicals and couldn't help but think of Professor Higgins in My Fair Lady, singing about how a hum-drum street became the most beautiful thing to him because Eliza lived there in "On the Street Where You Live." Funny how love or beauty changes our perspective on life.
