WV Prosperous In 2022
Context: WV Prosperous In 2022, I was inspired by Caravaggio’s Boy with Basket of fruit and the meaning of fruit in art history represents prosperity. My female model is an immigrant from a Middle Eastern country and she is holding an aluminum alloy pot filled with various fruits and plant leaves. The aluminum alloy basin symbolizes the modern industrial product from WV and the green plants represent the mountains. The fruits are symbolic of the natural resources and the wealth inside the mountain state, shared with people globally. I hope my paintings are a true portrayal of the torch of our time and let the audience feel that artworks are immediate, shortening the distance between art and the viewer’s life.
